ALL, THE MEXICO WE LOVE, THE WORK WE LOVE

Exclusive: Photographer Nikolaj Møller’s Mexico

As part of our continued work with CPTM, Nikolaj Møller headed down to Mexico to shoot a stunning still photography project for the brand.

Lucky for us, Nikolaj gave The Lift access to a special collection of unpublished photographs (in the gallery above), and we seized the opportunity to pick his mind about this project and what he found in Mexico.

What was the brief like from CPTM?

The brief was about showing Mexico from its best. Photographing beautiful places but always with people and experience in focus. About emotions and the moments you share with the people you love.

Was shooting Mexico like you had expected? If not, how so?

I kind of expected the unexpected, so yes it was. It was a really amazing experience and beyond any job I have had.

Did you have any particularly special moments on the set?

For sure running into the Zapatistas in the middle of the jungle was a special moment. Besides that there where so many moments. Like the first day of shooting in the river jumping from boat to boat to catch the best picture or swimming by a waterfall after finishing shooting in Chiapas or flying in hot air balloons at sunrise or simply driving at night in the mountains listening to music. I can go on and on.

What was your favorite place you traveled to for the shoot?

Chiapas for its nature and diversity. It was wild and beautiful.

If you could describe Mexico in one sentence…

I can describe Mexico in one word… LIFE.
